Events

Where architects and makers meet.

Made in Flanders brings architects and the craft companies behind great architecture together – not only on projects abroad, but also at exclusive network evenings, each time in a remarkable location that is normally closed to the public. Below you will find a short report of every edition. Alongside these evenings we also organise smaller PREVIEWS visits at our members’ workshops.

L.O.F.T. – Brussels, 2026

Thursday 24 September 2026 · Vanhaerents Art Collection, Anneessensstraat 29, Brussels

For its third edition Made in Flanders headed to the heart of Brussels. L.O.F.T. took place at the Vanhaerents Art Collection, an impressive private collection of contemporary art housed in a former industrial warehouse of 3,500 m² that Belgian architects Robbrecht en Daem transformed into a surprising exhibition space – a place where art and architecture reinforce each other in a unique way.

The highlight of the evening: a personal guided tour by the Vanhaerents family themselves, who walked our guests through the collection and told the stories behind it. Followed by good food, lively conversations and the company of fine colleagues from the sector.

G.I.L.D.E. – Bruges, 2024

Wednesday 25 September 2024 · Sint-Sebastiaansgilde, Carmersstraat 174, Bruges

Our second event opened the doors of a hidden gem in the historic centre of Bruges: the Sint-Sebastiaansgilde, home of the oldest archers’ guild in the world, which has gathered here without interruption since the Middle Ages. A location that is normally closed to the public.

We were honoured to welcome Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart, the internationally renowned founder of the Cradle to Cradle philosophy, as guest speaker. He took the audience into the world of C2C in architecture and shared his vision on sustainability and the circular economy. Dinner and wine were taken care of by Johan Desmet of ‘Kromme Elleboog’.

K.E.R.K. – Middelkerke, 2023

Wednesday 27 September 2023 · K.E.R.K., Sint-Pietersstraat 1, Sint-Pieters-Kappelle (Middelkerke)

The very first Made in Flanders event brought around a hundred top architects from West Flanders to K.E.R.K., the deconsecrated church of Sint-Pieters-Kappelle that today serves as the exhibition space of visual artist Nick Ervinck. For one evening, his architectural exhibition exceptionally reopened its doors: an expo and reading on the theme ‘Architectural works’.

“The line between art and architecture is very thin,” said Peter Bauwens, chairman of Made in Flanders. “With this event we wanted to bring both together in a wonderful setting.” The underlying goal of the evening: putting West Flemish creativity and craftsmanship in the spotlight – beautiful projects by West Flemish architects and craft companies pop up all over the world, and we may be a little prouder of that.

PREVIEWS

Behind the scenes at our members

Next to our large network evenings, PREVIEWS is our smaller and more informal format, created at the request of architects and developers. Each edition, one of our members opens the doors of its workshop to a select group of architects, who discover the latest innovations first-hand – followed by catering and good conversation.

Carpentier – Meulebeke, 2026

Thursday 2 July 2026 · Carpentier, Abeeldreef 15, Meulebeke

The third PREVIEWS took us to Carpentier, the award-winning wood specialist loved by architects for its façade cladding, wooden shutters, gates, annexes and timber-frame construction.

Theme of the evening: the raw power of wooden sun shading. As summers get warmer, Carpentier showed how a natural material keeps the heat out, lowers energy demand and brings rhythm and depth to a façade – including a new shutter with sliding wooden frames and movable slats.

Tintology – Bruges, 2025

Thursday 25 September 2025 · Paintfactory, Monnikenwerve 86, Bruges

For the second PREVIEWS we were guests of Tintology, the newcomer on the paint market that brings luxurious and creative wall finishes within reach of every project.

Working with top designers and experts in material and colour, Tintology creates groundbreaking textures and original colours made from natural minerals. The evening was introduced by surface technologist Yves Op de Beeck, director at Paintfactory and Tintology.

The very first PREVIEWS took place at MFORM, specialist in high-end custom metalwork and a well-known name among architects looking for unique metal finishes.

Managing director Siegfried Titeca presented his latest development: a luxurious made-to-measure metal wine cabinet, fully customisable with a wide range of metal coatings – already on display at Hotel La Réserve in Knokke.
